ENDA O'COINEEN'S TIME AT THE VENDEE GLOBE RACE HAS COME TO AN END

28TH SEPTEMBER 2017

On the 1st of January the mast of “Kilcullen Voyager – Team Ireland” broke 180 miles South East of New Zealand.

His position was some 180 nautical miles to the south east of Dunedin, New Zealand. He was racing in 35kts of SSE wind when the rig broke. Enda was uninjured and started making his way to New Zealand where he’s arrived safely.

We are very proud of all his achievements. He has been deservedly awarded Sailor of the Month by Afloat magazine who describe his spirit as being ‘reminiscent of Ernest Shackleton at his best’.

The MSL Mercedes-Benz School Programme continues however, so keep tracking the race and learning about marine life, geography, the importance of the ocean and much more.
